Following a fine academic career culminating in a BA (Hons) from Cambridge and a PhD from UCL in London, Caroline initially focused her first post-degree years on research on the molecular mechanisms involved in chronic inflammatory pain and then on the molecular mechanisms controlling neuronal differentiation.
She built on her neurology experience by moving to Elsevier and managing the review journal, Trends in Neurosciences. Following this experience, Caroline moved into medical writing and became Senior Medical Writer for Medicus International, working both in London and New York. Her work here gave her experience of writing materials for different media and audiences, including primary and secondary scientific publications, abstracts and congress posters, slide presentations, meeting reports, advisory board reports, competitor analysis documents, regulatory documents, newsletters, detail aids and web copy.
